Jukka Rintala – Master of elegance

Fashion designer Jukka Rintala’s best works – unique costumes and paintings during his long life are shining in the experiential exhibition at Finlandia Hall Showroom. These works combine in an exeptional way his handprint as an industrial designer and as a freelance artist in an exceptional way. The exhibition opens festively his 50th artist anniversary 2026 at the most central location in Finland, at Finlandia Hall.
Jukka Rintala is one of the most well-known names in the Finnish fashion world. His line creates strength, sensitivity and beauty in all his designs. He combines fashion and art in a unique way, making sculptural costumes shine and inspire admiration. Jukka Rintala is also a painter, whos has had exhibitions in several museums together with his costumes. His costumes and paintings form a unique combination – Rintala’s lifework.
Jukka Rintala has received several notable recognitions from his merits. In 2006 he received Pro Finlandia Medal awarded by President of The Republic of Finland, Savonlinna Medal in 2008, Kultainen Vaatepuu Recognition Prize 2012 and the Elle Style Awards Prize in 2012.
Exhibitions
Viisualist Matti Vaskelainen is an important suport and part in Jukka Rintala´s life. Together they have produced numerous exhibitions, fashion shows and events in different parts of Finland and abroad.
A long career as a designer and own collection
Jukka Rintala graduated from the Institute of Art and Design in 1976 as a fashion designer. Since then he has designed clothes for several Finnish companies, such as Friitala, Marimekko, Nanso and Suomen Höyhen, as well as jewellery for Aarikka. In 2007 he also designed a unique design jewelry collection for jeweler A. Tillander. The production of the collection bearing his own name started in 2008.
Theatre work
Jukka Rintala’s career also includes theatre. He designed costumes for the Svenska Teatern musical My Fair Lady (2003–2004). Together with Matti Vaskelainen he designed the costumes and sets for the musical play Strangers in the Night (2006–2007) at the Seinäjoki City Theatre, the operetta Lepakko (2007–2008) at the Kokkola Opera Society and the operet Some like it hot (2009) at the Tampere Music Theatre Palace and latest costumes for the play Lokki, Hanko Casino in 2019.
